A wedding day is an occasion to celebrate love and is joyful. The day of David and Heather Mosher’s wedding served as a poignant reminder of both the transience of life and the strength of love.

David and Heather met in 2015 while taking a dance class. They instantly fell in love and knew they were meant to be. On December 23, 2016, David asked Heather to marry him as they were traveling in a horse-drawn carriage by the light of the street lamps. Heather said yes, but her happiness was quickly overshadowed when, just five days later, She discovered that she had aggressive breast cancer.

Despite the news, the pair had set their wedding date for December 30, 2017, but they had to move it sooner because of Heather’s cancer’s quick progression. On December 22, 2017, the couple was married while Heather was surrounded by loved ones in her hospital bed.

Although Heather’s body was weak, and the family was prepared to cover her with the dress like a blanket, she could don the gown inside the hospital chapel. Every word, every breath, and every movement during the ceremony was a struggle for Heather, but she was adamant about marrying her true love. The pair exchanged vows, and appropriately, those were her final words. It was only 18 hours after saying “I do” that Heather passed away.

On their wedding day, David was overcome with love despite the sorrow and heartache. He witnessed Heather’s illness and suffering, yet she persisted until the day she married him. It was evidence of the strength of their love.

On December 30, the day that David and Heather had initially intended to get married, a funeral service for Heather was performed. Although it was a trying day, the images captured by one of Heather’s closest friends, Christina Karas, were a powerful reminder of the strength of love. The photos moved people’s emotions worldwide and are a reminder to value every second spent with loved ones and never take love for granted.
