Here are my 30 favorite images that I took of wildlife after quitting my job in finance

One day, while visiting the Natural History Museum, I wandered into the wrong exhibit hall. To my surprise, I found myself in the exhibition for the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year. I was amazed by the winning photographs and transported to a new world I had never seen before. The beautiful artwork mesmerized me, especially the winning image of “Blue Iceberg” by Cherry Alexander.

This wildlife exhibition was a genuinely uplifting experience I had repeated every year since. Little did I know that it would profoundly impact my life in the years to come.

After working in the finance industry in the City of London for 15 years, I realized I needed more balance. Wildlife photography became my passion, my new direction. So, I leaped and quit my job.

In 2005, Africa became a new chapter in my life. The sheer size and grandeur of this continent were overwhelming. From navigating the forests of Bwindi to climbing the peaks of Kilimanjaro and meandering along the red dunes of the Kalahari, I began capturing the beauty of Africa through my lens.

Photography has become my life, and it’s a cliché but true. No matter where I am, my mind’s eye is always framing shots. It has taught me to see the world in a new light, and I am forever grateful for that.

Life can take unexpected turns; sometimes, a lucky wrong turn can change our lives forever. It was stumbling into the exhibit hall of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the world’s most prestigious wildlife photography competition, which I have won three times.
