“I Did This For Me”: Lizzo Opens Up About Her Weight Loss Journey Like Never Before

For years, Lizzo has been unapologetically herself—bold, beautiful, and fiercely authentic. But behind the glitter, the viral hits, and the infectious confidence, she’s been quietly working on something deeply personal: her health.

And now, for the first time, she’s opening up in a raw, refreshingly honest way.

“They want me to be on Ozempic so bad,” she laughed, “But here’s the truth.”

In a deeply personal Instagram post shared on July 3rd, the 37-year-old artist gave fans a glimpse into her health transformation—not with marketing gimmicks or flashy products, but with grit, discipline, and self-love.

The post began with two striking side-by-side photos: one from her first-ever lymphatic massage with spa expert Flávia Lanini, and one from her most recent. The difference was clear—not just in her body, but in her energy.

She looked lighter. Brighter. Proud.

Lymphatic massage, known for reducing bloating and flushing toxins, became one of her monthly go-to wellness rituals. But don’t be fooled—this journey was anything but overnight.

“I train three times a week. I hit the sauna daily. I do cardio. I detox once a month. I dance. I move my body every day, even if it’s just walking on the beach.”

And while she’s made changes to her diet—cutting out sugary Starbucks drinks, full-fat sodas, and chips—she’s done it in her own time, on her own terms.

Lizzo brought animal protein back into her meals. She hired a personal chef who helps her stay mindful of what goes into her body. She even gave up alcohol for a while—though she cheekily admitted, “I’m drinking again ‘cause I earned it!”

Through it all, she hasn’t just been chasing a number on a scale—she’s been chasing peace, balance, and joy. And that’s something you can’t buy or inject.

“This was never about fitting into a certain image—it was about finally feeling at home in my own body. I’ve worked hard for this, and that pride? It’s mine to keep.”

And you can feel that pride radiate from every photo—especially the one of her beaming in a sauna, mid-detox, her body wrapped tightly in a sweat session, knowing she’s showing up for herself, over and over again.

In a world obsessed with shortcuts and comparisons, Lizzo’s message hits different.

She didn’t choose the easy way out. She chose patience. Persistence. And kindness toward her own body.

Her day-to-day meals are simple but nourishing: scrambled eggs and chicken sausage in the morning, Thai chicken salad or lettuce wraps at lunch, and turkey meatloaf with mashed cauliflower and green beans for an early dinner. She even manages her GERD by eating early so her body has time to rest before bed.

When hunger strikes between meals, she keeps it light and nourishing—smooth Greek yogurt, a handful of fresh fruit, and a gentle drizzle of honey to sweeten the moment.

And when life gets hard? She moves her body.

“I’ve never regretted a workout,” she said. “Even when I don’t want to go, I always feel better after. It keeps me sane.”

Lizzo’s story isn’t just about weight loss. It’s about taking back control. About learning what works for you and not letting the internet or tabloids decide how you should look or feel.

She didn’t owe anyone an explanation—but she gave us one anyway. And in doing so, she reminded all of us that the most powerful transformation is the one you do for yourself.

Because when you love your body enough to take care of it, that’s the real glow-up.
