Taz Aldeek, a 29-year-old man from Wilmslow, Cheshire, faced numerous rejections despite having three degrees, including a master’s degree. He was forced to rely on Universal Credit and accumulated £10,000 of debt, excluding his university tuition and accommodation loans. However, Taz never gave up on his dream of becoming a barrister, even after being rejected from nearly 100 jobs.

After volunteering at Manchester Crown Court Witness Service and completing a four-month voluntary internship in the US with the Louisiana Capital Post Conviction Project, Taz became interested in criminal law. However, he found securing a job in his desired field challenging and was forced to sign up for Universal Credit in November 2020.

Despite facing challenges, Taz remained positive and determined to succeed. After 18 months of job hunting, he finally landed his dream job as a case officer at the Information Commissioner’s Office. He secured a pupillage at the Crown Prosecution Service, starting in September.

Taz’s persistence paid off when he was awarded a scholarship from The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, allowing him to apply for pupillages and internships. Even though he didn’t get the scholarship the first time he used it, he persisted and eventually did.

Taz’s motivational narrative emphasizes the value of tenacity and tenacity when accomplishing one’s goals. He encourages other aspiring lawyers to pursue their dreams and shares his experiences on YouTube under the handle @TazAldeek
