This woman from Nova Scotia takes the most
amazing photos of abandoned buildings.

#1 Mercedes Blair, a 26-year-old North River resident, bought her first digital single lens mirror. The camera photographed landscapes and animals from Nova Scotia three years ago

#2 But it’s her images of abandoned structures scattered around the province that have caught the
attention of the public

#3 Blair and her projects, including this historic farm in Economy, will be featured in a future episode
of CBC’s Land and Sea

#4 She was able to meet the woman who owns it thanks to CBC. It’s really a well-known farm in the
region, notable for the birth of a two-headed calf

#5 “When you first arrive at these dwellings, they appear to be an old, run-down structure. It’s
fantastic to discover the stories “According to Blair, who spoke to BuzzFeed Canada

#6 “Abandoned buildings just speak to me,” Blair remarked, “as though they tell a tale on their own”

#7 “I simply like gazing at something that most people would consider to be unattractive. I just
believe it’s a thing of beauty in and of itself”

#8 It’s hit or miss when it comes to discovering these historic structures, but it’s always an adventure.
There’s also the extra pressure of capturing images before it’s too late

#9 “You’re shooting them becoming worse, and ultimately they won’t be there at all,” says the
narrator

#10 Her art was also featured in a Truro Daily News report. Blair describes herself as a “shy, quiet girl,”
thus the attention has been weird for her

#11 “I’m just taking it all in at the moment. I had assumed it would remain a pastime indefinitely, but
with all of this new information, I’m considering taking it farther”
