After finding an Alien Chestburster model at a garage sale, Todd got the inspiration. The figure was put together and painted, after which the idea for the photo shoot emerged in his head. Todd said, “Nicole took care of selecting our ‘out there’ apparel, and I had a concept for the general tale and props needed, including carving the alien pod pumpkin.

Todd and Nicole like Halloween very much and enjoy dressing up in extravagant costumes. They initially connected at a Halloween gathering; dressing up for the occasion has become a ritual. According to Todd, This was a fun way to celebrate the dark humour while spreading a few smiles and laughs. “We always hand-make ornate costumes and lavishly decorate our home for Halloween,” the author says.

Despite the frigid and muddy weather in the pumpkin patch, the funny and spooky photo session was over in just an hour. We continued giggling at the ridiculousness of it, hoping the farm workers wouldn’t drive by and see us covered in blood, said Todd.
