Lulu Conner, who had recently celebrated her brother Bobby’s marriage to Steffens in late 2023, was remembered fondly. “From what I know, Lulu was full of energy and so excited to be here,” Krikorian remarked, encouraging the team to honor her memory through their performance.

During the opening ceremony, Steffens was observed casting flowers into the Seine, a gesture now understood as a tribute to her late sister-in-law. The loss has deeply affected the team, with Krikorian acknowledging the difficulty of facing such unexpected tragedy.

Adding to the team’s emotional challenges, Maddie Musselman, Tokyo Games MVP, is dealing with her husband Pat Woepse’s ongoing cancer battle. Despite his health struggles, Woepse expressed his determination to support his wife and the team in Paris.
