Speaking to reporters, Trump said, “If you look at the problem, the problem is on the left. It’s not on the right, like some people like to share the right, the problem we have is on the left. And when you look at the agitator, you look at the scum that speaks so badly of our country, the American flag burnings all over the place, that’s the left. That’s not the right.” Asked which groups he intends to investigate, he said, “We’ll see. We’ll be announcing.” He added that “a lot of the people that you would traditionally say are on the left… they’re already under investigation,” without specifying which groups.

Trump told NBC News on Saturday that he wants to see the country heal, “but we’re dealing with a radical left group of lunatics.”

On Sunday evening, Trump said he plans to attend Charlie Kirk’s funeral next week. He described the weekend as very sad and said a “great person” had been lost. He added that he would leave early Sunday for Arizona on Air Force One with several others, noting that some reporters might accompany the trip.

Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed Wednesday during an event on the campus of Utah Valley University. The alleged gunman, Tyler Robinson, was taken into FBI custody late Thursday evening.

In an address Thursday about Kirk, whom he described as a close ally who played a critical role in his 2024 campaign, Trump blamed the “radical left” for the shooting.
