US Military Aircraft Fly Over Russia-Ukraine Peace Summit in Anchorage, Alaska
|ANCHORAGE, ALASKA — August 15, 2025 — A U.S. B-2 Spirit bomber, accompanied by four F-35 fighter jets, soared over Anchorage today ahead of a high-stakes meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The summit unites the two leaders to discuss and find solutions for the continuing conflict in Ukraine.

The B-2 bomber and F-35 fighter jets flew over the location as President Putin was arriving. Reports indicate that the B-2 bomber flew at a low altitude. The B-2 Spirit, officially known as the Northrop B-2 Spirit, is a stealth bomber that costs over $2 billion per aircraft and is capable of carrying 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs. The aircraft has a non-refueled range of 7,000 miles. Additionally, two F-22 planes were positioned on either side of a red carpet.

The purpose of the flights has not been officially confirmed, and it remains unclear whether President Trump ordered them.
This event follows a June 21 missile attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, codenamed Operation Midnight Hammer. During that mission, B-2 bombers reportedly flew undetected, as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth noted at the time. He stated, “Our B-2s carried out missions to these nuclear sites and returned without anyone knowing.” The 36-hour operation from Missouri to Iran involved midair refueling. In retaliation, Iran struck six U.S. air bases across Qatar and Iraq.
