Utah governor says Kirk shooting suspect not cooperating; partner and family assisting FBI
|Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said Sunday that Tyler Robinson, 22, the suspect in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, is not cooperating with investigators, while Robinson’s romantic partner and family are working with authorities.

Cox, speaking on Sunday talk shows, said investigators have not determined a motive and expect to file charges against Robinson on Tuesday. He added that information provided so far indicates Robinson held left-leaning political views and disliked Kirk.
The governor said people close to Robinson described him as “deeply indoctrinated in leftist ideology,” but he did not detail specific beliefs. “That information comes from the people around him — his family members and friends,” Cox said.

Cox also confirmed that Robinson’s live-in romantic partner is transgender and emphasized that this person has been “incredibly cooperative” and unaware of the alleged plan. He cautioned against drawing conclusions about motive based on that relationship.
Cox said he recently spoke with President Donald Trump about the killing, calling the conversation “sobering.” He added of Trump, “He knows better than anyone,” and noted that anger is a “normal reaction.”
