It’s no secret that OnlyFans has turned out to be super lucrative-ergo, its growing popularity. Among the many who have plunged into the earning capability of the platform is YouTuber-cum-internet personality Tana Mongeau, who recently let loose how much she had earned.

For those who may not know, OnlyFans is a platform that allows content creators to charge subscribers to use their content. That very well usually means adult content-from nude photos and videos to custom requests from fans for which they charge more money.

Mongeau, 26, first gained her following on YouTube, and the podcast Cancelled, which she cohosts with Brooke Schofield, has now spoken out about why she decided to join OnlyFans.

“If I’m partying, and I’m in a see-through shirt, and someone’s taking pictures, I figured I might as well make money off of it,” Nevada-born Mongeau told The Cut.

“For years, men online sexualized me without my consent, and eventually, I was like, ‘I might as well make a million dollars off of it.'”

Mongeau wasn’t bluffing, for sure. In 2020, she did an Instagram post showing a glass trophy engraved with “Congratulations Top Earner” beside the whopping figure of $3,000,000.

Mongeau said in an interview with Forbes back in 2023, “I think that as a woman, people will often doubt your abilities, and you have to work a little harder to prove yourself.

But I wanted success, and I got it-how hard that was. If I played according to the rules, then perhaps I wouldn’t have everything that I have now. And if I conformed to an image of a ‘perfectly brand-safe businesswoman,’ I’m not sure I’d be in the place I’m at today.

However, Mongeau’s career has also faced its share of controversies. Probably the most infamous happened in 2018 when she organized ‘TanaCon’ as a reaction to a dispute with VidCon. In the latter, the event meant to give a chance for their fans to meet their favorite influencers, turned out to be a disaster. Thousands waited in scorching heat with not enough provisions to cancel the event opening day.

In 2020, Mongeau was criticized for attending parties during COVID-19, despite safety protocols. She later apologized, saying she had been “careless and irresponsible.”

Despite the setbacks and controversies, Tana Mongeau has retained a massive following across all major social media platforms, relevant in her career.
