Numerous individuals worldwide have been moved by the story of Coralynn Sobolik, a 22-month-old baby who donated her organs after being pronounced brain dead. She captured on camera when Coralynn’s mother, 29-year-old Meagan Sobolik, was wheeled into surgery to donate her organs. In the video, medical professionals sing Amazing Grace as they line the hallways in Coralynn’s honor. Mrs. Sobolik was highly complimentary of the hospital staff for treating them like family.
On April 17, Coralynn started feeling poorly, and two days later, she was sent to the hospital. She had respiratory troubles, which led medical personnel to suspect parainfluenza, which also caused breathing problems. Medical experts gave her CPR for 25 minutes after her heart stopped. She was sent to the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester after they had her under control, where it was revealed that she had brain damage.
Coralynn was declared brain dead despite the physicians’ efforts to revive her. Her parents decided to give her kidneys, liver, and heart to needy people. She donated her liver to a 1-year-old girl, her kidneys to a 41-year-old woman, and her heart to a 1-year-old son.
When Mrs. Sobolik shared a video on Facebook to share with her family, she didn’t expect it to become viral and receive over nine million views. She said they were overwhelmed by the support they received from people worldwide and were grateful that Coralynn’s memory could carry on.
Mrs. Sobolik urges everyone to consider organ donation as a personal decision. She thinks organ donation is a powerful way for everyone to continue their legacy. Through the three people saved by her donated organs, Coralynn now has a gift that can endure.
Coralynn was born on July 18, 2017, and according to her obituary, she was a cheeky young lady who enjoyed taking bubble baths, chasing puppies and kitties, and blowing bubbles. More than £1,700 has been donated to the GoFundMe account established to pay for Coralynn’s burial.
Coralynn Sobolik’s tale serves as a reminder of the value of organ donation and its positive effects on other people’s lives. The three individuals saved by her donated organs carry on her legacy.
