This house from 1914 has a Georgian Revival style, popular in the area as they moved away from Gothic architecture. This happened because new people came to the place, and the English people already living there wanted to show their influence. The house was owned by different people over the years and became a big part of Toronto’s history.

The previous owner of this property was dedicated to helping children. They co-founded a hospital and donated to start a well-known private school focusing on art. The buildings on the property have been used for different purposes, including a senior home, a hospital for sick children and children with disabilities, and a learning center for minority kids.

The house, also known as the Abandoned Mosque Mansion, has a rich history and is considered historically and culturally significant. It was designated as a heritage site about 10 years ago for its unique architectural features. Unfortunately, the current owner, who bought the property in the 1990s, has not taken proper care of the building. Some parts have even been demolished because they were in such poor condition.
The owner now wants to build condos on the site where the house stands, but they have been ordered to move the building instead of tearing it down. The house is still in good structural condition, so the owner must fix the caved-in roof and properly maintain it to keep it free from damage. This includes sealing windows and doors when it’s not in use and preventing vandalism. Exploring the Abandoned Mosque Mansion is a fascinating experience, with a rich and exciting history to uncover!
