The Cape Breton, Nova Scotia-based dog daycare and boarding service Good Hands Boarding Kennels has devised a creative and cute way to transport its canine clients to and from the facility. The kennel picks up and drops off its canine daycare customers whose owners cannot bring them in personally using a small school bus reminiscent of the tiny yellow school buses that transport human children.

To create a canine daycare and boarding facility that is modeled after schools that human children attend while their parents are at work, Rachel Haggett and her partner Wayne Devoe established Good Hands Boarding Kennels in October 2011. Haggett believed that because pet owners treat their dogs like children, providing a similar atmosphere for their animal companions is only appropriate.

The pair discovered a tiny school bus for sale online because the facility typically cared for 15 to 30 dogs at once and needed transportation for its canine clientele. Haggett said they were on the verge of purchasing a cube van but fell in love with the little yellow school bus because it was more appropriate for their doggy daycare. When she first saw the bus online, she claimed she immediately saw the dogs riding in it and knew they had to have it.

Up to 10 dogs can be carried on the bus at once and travel safely in crates. It picks up the dogs an hour before the daycare starts and returns them home an hour after the daycare closes. Pet owners can now ensure their dogs arrive at the facility and return home securely and easily, even if they are called into work or choose not to drive in the winter.

Since its introduction, the little yellow school bus has been a big success for Good Hands Boarding Kennels. Haggett claims that while most individuals take the bus due to work obligations, some do so for convenience.

When the canines get to Good Hands, the welcoming staff accepts them with open arms, and they are free to greet their animal companions to start the day. Then, throughout their stay at the facility, they have access to various games and activities, including two trampolines that have been lowered for safety.
With a little yellow school bus, Good Hands Boarding Kennels has discovered a special and cute way to transport its canine clients to and from its facilities. Pet owners who cannot bring their dogs in themselves can easily use this mode of transportation, knowing that their four-legged companions will arrive at the facility and return home safely. The facility also provides the dogs with a fun-filled day of activities and toys once they arrive, which makes their stay there much more joyful.
