Gymnastic Powerhouses Biles and Chiles Celebrate Olympic Triumphs
|Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles, star gymnasts of the USA team, shared a light moment of jubilation after making it big at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The two posted a set of photos on Instagram that showed the ultimate in team spirit. In the shots, the Olympic gymnasts Biles and Chiles pose on what appears to be a balcony in the Olympic Village, donning sports bras and red and white shorts emblazoned with “Team USA” across the back.

Their caption, “red, white, biles&chiles” with a heart emoji, made the rounds among fans in no time. The comments were full of puns—”Team USSlay”—and bucket-loads of pride, thanking them enough for the performances and inspiration bestowed upon the sport.
The most decorated American gymnast in history, Simone Biles, found this an easy competition. Her medal count grew impressively in Paris with gold medals in team all-around, individual all-around, and vault events. This recent haul brings her total medals won at the Olympics to 13, including seven golds.
The women’s gymnastics team, nicknamed the “Golden Girls,” added special significance to its victory in the team all-around. The gold medal performance came off as a “redemption tour” from their silver medal finish in Tokyo four years ago.
The Olympics didn’t come without challenges for Biles, though. A shocking fall off the balance beam Sunday cost her a podium finish, placing her fourth in the event.
She was open about prioritizing her mental health through the Games as much as possible, speaking about what it is like to deal with such pressure on a worldwide platform. “We’re taking it day-by-day to see if I need extra therapy while I’m here, but so far, so good,” she said, underscoring that Olympic athletes prepare their minds for the Games as much as their bodies.

The case of the “twisties”—a dangerous mid-air loss of spatial awareness that gymnasts sometimes suffer—saw Biles withdraw from several events in Tokyo 2020. The Paris Olympics would seal her triumphant comeback.
The Games ended on a high for both Biles and Chiles. During the floor exercise final, Biles took the silver medal while Chiles took the bronze, with Rebeca Andrade from Brazil securing gold by an extremely slim margin of 0.033 points ahead of Biles. This was really a nice sporting gesture: the two American gymnasts bowed toward Andrade on the podium in recognition of her win.
Here, as another Olympic Games comes to a close, Biles and Chiles show again that if one wants athletic power, mental toughness, and team spirit, then there can be very little left in gymnastics that the world will forget.
