Taylor Swift arrived at Santa Barbara Airport on Friday afternoon and was shielded by multiple black umbrellas as she deplaned ahead of Selena Gomez’s wedding celebration.

Swift, wearing a dark shirt, was photographed stepping off an aircraft as several people clustered around her with umbrellas, leaving only her elbow visible in images of the arrival. A bystander was seen carrying luggage and a white box — potentially a wedding gift for Gomez and her groom, Benny Blanco — before Swift entered a waiting black SUV. A representative for Swift did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Earlier Friday, a source told Page Six that Swift, 35, will stay in a private rental home during the weekend event for security reasons, despite the Sun’s prior report that guests would lodge at the high-profile Encanto hotel for the wedding weekend. “She will be renting a house near the wedding venue, which is a secret to the public,” the insider said. “Her security team feels it’s better than a hotel.”

Gomez, 33, and Blanco, 37, are said to be tying the knot on Saturday at a private estate in Santa Barbara, kicking off a two-day celebration. According to The Sun, guests will be collected and driven to the venue without being told where they’re headed. Despite the secrecy, excitement is high—everyone’s expecting an unforgettable weekend.

It is unclear whether Swift — who became engaged to Travis Kelce in August — will attend with her fiancé; the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is scheduled to play the Baltimore Ravens in Missouri on Sunday.

Gomez announced her engagement to Blanco in December 2024 via social media, where Swift commented, “Yes I will be the flower girl.” In August, Gomez posted in support of Swift’s engagement to Kelce, writing, “When besties gets engaged,” atop an Instagram Stories repost of the announcement. Gomez also resurfaced a message Swift sent in 2009 alongside photos from their engagement announcements: “Real love still happens sometimes. It’s not just something we make up when we’re nine. I have to believe that. You do too,” the “Cruel Summer” singer tweeted 16 years ago.

Swift and Gomez have been friends since the late 2000s, when Gomez dated Nick Jonas and Swift dated his brother Joe Jonas. Swift’s umbrella-covered arrival follows her recent low-profile entrance to the Chiefs–Eagles game on Sept. 15, when she entered the stadium from behind a large screen.
