To make over 900 teddy bears for children in hospitals, a 12-year-old boy learns to sew
|Campbell Remess, a young boy with a heart of gold, has been making a tremendous impact on the lives of sick children. At 9, Campbell expressed his desire to buy presents for kids in his local hospital. However, realizing the financial constraints, he decided to take matters into his own hands. “I’ll make them then,” he said to his mother, showcasing his determination and compassion.
Driven by his passion for comforting suffering children, Campbell started sewing stuffed animals in his bedroom during his free time. Despite having no experience sewing, he dedicated himself to this cause. It took him approximately five hours to create his first little teddy bear. However, with practice and perseverance, he has become incredibly efficient, now able to craft a bear in about an hour.
Campbell’s selfless act of kindness has not gone unnoticed. Once news about his project spread, people were inspired to contribute and donate materials for him. He has made an estimated 900 stuffed animals with the community’s support, all lovingly given to sick children and adults.
In addition to his sewing endeavours, Campbell also dedicates himself to raising funds for charitable causes. Earlier this year, he took the initiative to organize and host a charity gala dinner. Through his efforts and the generosity of others, he successfully raised an impressive $26,000 for charity. Campbell’s determination to make a difference extends beyond the immediate impact of his stuffed animals. He has a heartfelt desire to contribute to further research on finding a cure for cancer.
The impact of Campbell’s actions is immeasurable. His friend aptly expressed, “They’re kids that haven’t smiled in ages… and when they get given the bear, they smile.” These small acts of kindness and the joy they bring create a ripple effect, spreading happiness and hope to those who need it most.
Campbell Remess, also known as “Bumble,” has inspired many. His dedication, creativity, and genuine concern for the well-being of others serve as a testament to the power of compassion and the difference one person can make. Through his ongoing project, Project 365, Campbell continues to impact numerous lives. Children remind us of the profound impact that can be achieved with a simple gesture.
