In a surprising turn of events, an 83-year-old grandmother, who had captivated the world with an X-rated interview about her romantic life with her 37-year-old husband, has now disclosed the reasons behind their abrupt divorce. British woman, Iris Jones, has candidly admitted that she feels “foolish” and acknowledges that she “should have known better” than to get involved with her “toy boy” husband, Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim.
The couple met on Facebook in 2019, and, despite their significant 46-year age gap, they tied the knot a year later in Ibriham’s home country, Egypt. Their relationship received global attention after Jones openly discussed their passionate intimacy on national TV. However, their love affair gradually dwindled as the grandmother grew tired of shouldering the responsibility of caring for her husband.
According to a source, although the couple continued to have a sexual relationship, Jones was left burdened with all the household chores, which left her tired and uninterested. Speaking directly to a UK publication, Jones revealed that she did all the cooking, cleaning, and tidying. Realizing that she would have been better off without him, Jones regretted not heeding the advice of her family and friends and compared Ibriham unfavourably to her preferred first husband. She expressed contentment in being single with her new feline companion, a Bengal cat named Mr Tibbs, who had become the new love of her life.
Jones disclosed that she hadn’t seen or heard from Ibriham since the breakup, and he had taken all his belongings with him, making it clear that he was not welcome back. Despite initially falling for his image, Jones no longer felt any love for him and only regretted her past decisions. She admitted that the breakup came as a surprise to Ibriham, and he took it quite poorly.
A significant “cultural divide” was cited as one of the issues between the couple, as Ibriham only spoke Arabic, which led to conflicts with Jones. They had different preferences, including their approach to open windows, and Ibriham’s hypochondriac tendencies also added to their disagreements. Jones first made headlines worldwide in 2020 when she appeared on ITV’s This Morning and shared explicit details of her intimate nights with Ibriham in a segment titled “My Egyptian Toy Boy Isn’t After My Money.”
Reflecting on the end of their relationship, Jones told Closer, a British tabloid magazine, that she never expected to fall in love with someone 46 years younger than her, but it happened. She had adored everything about Mohamed, but eventually, the relationship became more challenging. Their passionate love life gave way to constant arguments over various matters, which Jones found unacceptable at her age.
Jones claims not to miss her ex-husband at all, except for the fact that he took away the “tempura battered prawns” she had prepared for dinner on the night of their breakup.
