“Adult Woman and 10-Year-Old Girl Form an Adorable Friendship During Flight”
It’s not an easy thing to do, flying solo at 10. What really started out as a nightmare of a flight for little Jazzy turned out to be very heartwarming when she ended up sitting next to TikToker Samantha Purnell. Not only did Samantha help Jazzy lose her fear of flying, but the two also became friends in such a touching way.

This past June, Samantha Purnell got onto a plane and took her seat next to a little girl traveling by herself. What transpired over the next two hours became the most profound interaction.
When we think of in-flight children, there are two schools of thought: those who are sympathetic because they have children and those who just want to fly with no children around. With the number of stories online about misbehaving children on flights, Samantha had no reason to look forward to being seated next to a 10-year-old. Little did she know, Jazzy was much more nervous to be flying alone.
What could’ve been a really awkward flight became this real-life connection. Jazzy later described the moment: “I felt really nervous. Started crying. So I told him, ‘Okay, I’m going to tell you my whole life story.’ And then we just started talking and we became best friends.”
The entire event was captured on video and then posted on TikTok. In just a short period of time, it went viral. It depicts Samantha and Jazzy sharing moments of bonding over the movie “The Parent Trap,” playing “Sephora” with Samantha’s makeup, and enjoying snacks that Jazzy’s mother has packed for school. But perhaps the most moving moment came when to Samantha stating, “Don’t you ever say that! You’re stunning.”, Jazzy says, “ugly,” to herself. Never say that to yourself again, ever,” pumping up Jazzy’s now shaky self-confidence at such an impressionable time in a young girl’s life.
Jazzy’s aunt, Bree Cruz, was obviously extremely grateful to Samantha for her good deed. “That’s my niece, and her mom and I are so thankful for you! Jazzy was nervous about flying, and you really helped her! Thanks for being there and being such an angel!” she commented in the TikTok.
But that’s not all. Almost two months later, Samantha reached out to Jazzy’s family and arranged a surprise reunion. “It’s 6:40 in the morning, and I’m on my way to pick her up. She thinks that she is going fishing with her dad, but I am really going to pick her up, and we’re going to hang out all day. She has no idea,” Samantha said.
The emotions that overflowed as she ran from the car and into Samantha’s arms left her in a cascade of tears. “I’m so happy!,” she said. The two spent the whole day together as they documented their fun moments on TikTok going to Starbucks, trying out outfits and makeup, and her giving more tips on how Jazzy could boost her confidence.
A moment was created between Samantha and Jazzy that bonded them together, and both were content in their minds and hearts.
