All the strict rules in Australia's 'Candy Shop Mansion'

Undoubtedly, there is no one in this world who lives a life of luxury like Travers Beynon, or, as he became known, ‘The Candyman.’ An Australian tobacco tycoon, 52, has been living in a huge mansion famously called the ‘Candy Shop Mansion’ with his wife, Taesha, and several girlfriends for years.

While Beynon and Taesha, his partner, have only recently settled down from their hedonistic ways, their mansion remains one of the last vestiges of their wild past. Beynon put the property on the market last December before welcoming his son Santiago with Taesha back in June. Although they might be changing their lives around, those stories from the wild years inside that mansion will always be a piece of Australian pop culture.

For years, Beynon has been openly boastful—at least publicly—to the press about how he manages his multiple relationships. Every woman in his life reportedly gets along. That includes sharing a giant bed and taking part in a weekly “family meal” — with mobile phones banned.

There are definite rules about how Beynon lets new girlfriends into the home; from what Beynon says, the majority are not very happy about the situation, although he said that from day one he is up-front with his rules.

In an interview with LADBible in 2018, Beynon detailed a typical night out at the mansion. “We had a party at the mansion, then moved to the bedroom, which has a stripper pole, mirrored ceilings, and all the lights and smoke machines,” he said. He also remembered his wife not being able to see him once because of the pile of women that was on top of him, joking that he was lucky enough to have that experience several times.

It’s not easy managing so many relationships, but Beynon says his business experience in “people management” translates to handling the complexities of polygamy. His girlfriends, he says, are treated as part of the family, with Sunday night dinners obligatory for everyone, himself, and the kids.

The secret, says Beynon, is that he insists everyone has the same bedroom. Although with three large king-size beds – and a fourth bedroom all for him – there’s plenty of room. Juggling women’s romantic and emotional needs may be challenging, but he’s had years to perfect the art.

Speaking of her trickiest situations, Beynon says, “Every scenario you could possibly think of has happened. It’s just normal for me now. I do have such tight rules, so it works long term. Some girls have flown in from the US or UK and lasted just one hour because their attitude wasn’t right.”

He had put attention in the facts that the rules must be kept in mind as they are and the benefits of abiding by it. His wife, Taesha is the active part of the family. They met each other when she was 18 years old; he had been open in his personality regarding his lifestyle and the mansion. Taesha, interested in girls, knew how she had to compromise with frequently arranged parties and intimacy.

Beynon is selective in who he lets be a girlfriend, receiving applications from women all over the world hoping to win a place in his mansion. They have to jump through some hoops—video calls to make sure they look like their picture, and then it’s trial time.
