Anya Taylor-Joy Wears Outfit That Fuels the Fire Online

Anya Taylor Joy has never been one to shy away from controversy, both on and off-screen. Recently, an outfit she donned fueled some heated conversations. Resurfaced photos from the United Kingdom premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga have some folks criticizing her outfit, even going so far as to call it “vulgar.” Images posted via the Instagram page Celebsinheels show Anya in a black and white bodysuit courtesy of Giambattista Valli’s Spring/Summer 2024 Couture collection. Paired with black tights and pointed heels by Christian Louboutin, Anya looked stunning, but not everyone was thrilled by her look.

Reactions to her style ran the gamut-just like the movie Mad Max did. Comments ranged from admiration to confusion. “She’s a pretty girl, but I don’t think this outfit is elegant at all,” wrote one user. Another chimed in, “What is up with this tacky trend? Leotards and bathing suits are not evening wear!” While people questioned her choice of outfit, others seemed simply to be perplexed by her style evolution.

Anya’s fearless fashion comes at a time when her life has been anything but ordinary. This year alone, Anya and her musician husband Malcolm McRae saw one terrifying burglary at their north London home. The Standard reports on November 4 that masked intruders smashed glass to break into their home-even attempted entry into the bedroom where the couple was inside.

Luckily, the experience didn’t mar Anya’s romantic life. Anya and Malcolm, who made their public debut as a couple in 2021, married the following year in an intimate New Orleans ceremony. “The magic of that day is sewn into every cell of my body, forever,” she wrote on Instagram, referring to Malcolm as her “coolest” best friend.

Audiences were first wooed by Anya’s gifts in 2015’s horror sleeper The Witch, though she has since consistently wowed them in such hits as Split, Glass, Emma, and The Queen’s Gambit. Already a Golden Globe and SAG Award recipient for her performance as Beth Harmon, Anya is now officially one to watch.
