I took pictures of this abandoned home
These abandoned homes never cease to amaze me! This abandoned home is located in a rural area of France. Once inside, it felt as though time had stopped and the 1950s had just passed. Take in the images.

To preserve a memory or capture an emotion, photography is to me all about capturing a moment in time. When I picture abandoned homes, I attempt to capture each one as if it were a person. such as a portrait. Choosing the ideal perspective, the brightest lighting, and, so to speak, their personality. Although it may sound absurd, I do believe that each house has a unique personality in addition to style.

I started taking pictures while I was recovering from an ailment that had made me ill. My immune system was targeted, and as a result, I developed severe allergies to things like perfume, automobile fumes, and pollution in general. So, in an effort to regain my health, I walked the woods. One day I happened upon this ancient, deserted cottage; at the time, I felt just as excluded from society as I did. This whole thing began because I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I got a camera, went back, and took pictures of it.

Finding the houses is the hardest part! To find these abandoned houses, I travel for hours and hours on dirt roads, backroads, and pathways you wouldn’t even consider roads. That’s the beginning. The weather comes next. When the sun is out, I don’t want to take pictures because I prefer a gloomier, melancholy aesthetic. Therefore, if I see a house on a sunny day, I must return on a day with dramatic cloud cover. Regardless of how far I have to travel. Finding the owner and obtaining permission to take pictures inside these homes is, of course, not always simple. Even while it’s often tough to turn down a fantastic photo opportunity, it’s crucial to respect other people’s property. If I didn’t have that work ethic, I don’t think I’d be able to do this task.

The subject I discuss is abandonment! Beginning with simply external shots. depictions of dwellings. Then, as the situation developed, I got in touch with the home’s owners, acquired entry, and was able to take an increasing number of interior pictures. I began to learn stories about the house and the previous residents as I spoke with these owners. Some of the tales were quite unbelievable. This made me realize that I had to start putting together a book that included pictures of deserted houses and narratives about the individuals who once resided there. Currently exclusively available in Norway, the book is now available in Norwegian.

Since I’ve been taking pictures for the past ten years, I anticipate continuing to do so as long as there are abandoned homes to be located. My book, which I recently released, is currently ranked first in Norway on the country’s bestselling list. Knowing that many people seem to find interest in the images and accounts of abandoned homes, I want to continue sharing those tales. For the past, present, and the foreseeable future.
