Unfortunately, the hurricane severely affected the Baxley community, with power outages leaving a significant portion of the county without electricity. The First Baptist Church and the rest of the area faced the same power outage dilemma, ultimately leading to a change in their plans. As a result, the remaining food intended for the Rest Stop was shared with other churches that still accommodated evacuees, preventing it from going to waste.

Despite their disappointment in being unable to serve all those who had intended to visit and find respite at the Rest Stop, the First Baptist Church of Baxley remained committed to supporting their community. They redirected their efforts towards checking on older people and assisting with cleanup operations for those in need.
