Kai Pacha and her dog Majo saved and adopted a blind puma named Estanislao when he was just a baby. Now Estanislao lives in the Pumakawa Wildlife Reserve in Argentina. Estanislao and his sister were driven over by a harvester in a cornfield, resulting in Estanislao losing sight. Regrettably, his brother did not make it, but fortunately for Estanislao, a family saw what happened and helped save his life by administering first aid.

Estanislao can’t care for himself since his central nervous system was permanently and irreparably destroyed. His eyesight prevents him from being among other mountain lions, which would make it hard for him to live alone in the wild. Kai and her coworkers have taken on the challenge to provide Estanislao with the best life they can under the circumstances. They now act as his caregivers and friends, ensuring he always has the support he needs.

The heat from a salamander burner and the aroma of burning palo santo combine in Kai’s mud-built home on the reserve. While separate from the rest, it is located on the two hectares the reserve premises currently occupy. It is isolated from the café, the gift shop, the tree nursery, the first aid room, the modest house where volunteers sleep, the handicraft store, the hall where the animal cages are, and the tree nursery.

Kai is devoted and committed to taking care of Estanislao without wavering. To bring attention to the struggles experienced by animals like him and to inspire people to help make a difference, she posted Estanislao’s tale on Instagram. Many others have found inspiration in her work, which serves as a reminder that even A modest deed of kindness may have a significant impact.
