At 91, most people envision a life of relaxation after years of hard work. However, Anežka Kašpárková, a passionate Czech grandma, has a different perspective. Instead of embracing a sedentary lifestyle, she has dedicated herself to a remarkable artistic endeavor that has transformed the small village of Louka into a breathtaking open-air gallery.

Anežka, also known as Agnes Kašpárková, began her artistic journey over three decades when she ended her employment as an agricultural worker. Inspired by her late friend Manakova, who practiced the same craft selflessly, Agnes learned the skill of hand painting houses. She humbly acknowledges that she is merely continuing the legacy of her mentor.

The stunning works of Agnes are characterized by intricate floral designs enriched with captivating ultramarine shades. Louka’s traditional Moravian houses, with their spare white walls, provide the perfect canvas for her detailed artistry. Among her favorite spots to paint in the village is the village chapel, a project that takes her 10 days to complete each year in May.

Despite her growing fame as an internet sensation, Agnes remains grounded and modest. However, she does not view herself as an artist who passionately pursues what she loves while seeking to bring beauty to the world.

As Agnes has gracefully aged, her dedication to hand painting houses has become more challenging, especially during the cold months. Consequently, she now only focuses on updating her previous works during the summer. Despite this, her unwavering commitment to her craft is evident in every brush stroke.

Agnes’s attention to detail extends to her choice of materials. She exclusively uses expensive, high-quality paint to ensure the longevity of her artwork. She believes that her painted masterpieces will last at least two years, emphasizing her desire to make her village beautiful for an extended period.
