Sam could take beautiful pictures of the fox in its natural environment thanks to the relationship he had built with it. An uncommon illness known as melanism, brought on by excessive black pigmentation in the skin, is the cause of the fox’s dark stripe on its red fur. These foxes, which make up around 30% of the population of Canadian red foxes, are also known as cross foxes and are often seen in North America.

Sam worked hard to earn the fox’s trust by reassuring it that he was not dangerous. He regularly went to the fox at dusk, and ultimately his efforts were rewarded. Sam could see the fox hunt, hide, get food, and interact with its siblings as it got used to his presence.

Sam’s photos beautifully displayed the fox’s beauty and playfulness. The images also showed the fox’s younger sister playing with it, which was an endearing sight. Sam’s persistence and commitment to winning the fox’s confidence paid off, enabling us to see this fantastic animal through his lens.
