Conjoined twins beat the 5% chance of survival: "You girls can do anything"

Callie and Carter Torres, who were born conjoined and united from the sternum down, have overcome all odds to enrol in kindergarten at six. Their story is one of extraordinary resiliency. The twins were born in 2017 in Blackfoot, Idaho, and were only given a 5% chance of surviving past their first several weeks. According to their mother, Chelsea Torres, the girls share a liver, bladder, and intestinal tract but have two different hearts and stomachs. They use a wheelchair to get about and coordinate their movements through physical therapy even though they can only control one leg and two arms apiece.

Chelsea wants people to know that her daughters are like any other kids, with individual personalities, likes, and dislikes, despite their odd circumstances. The contrast between Carter and Callie is that Callie is “really girly,” whereas Carter is not. They occasionally become tired of one another and need some time alone, which is provided by giving them headphones and letting them watch TV on their tablets.

The girls are in excellent condition, and their mother has amassed over 205,000 followers on TikTok. They have even become prominent on social media. She frequently posts videos of the girls having fun doing everyday things like swimming, biking, and playing.

Finding clothing that fits their particular situation can be difficult, Chelsea acknowledges. She must sew together two pieces of clothing to create their attire. When they were babies, she had to have a bespoke car seat constructed, which they recently outgrew.
